The Youth Services Center of Fern Creek Traditional High School and Carrithers Middle School is unique in that many specialized services are all located within the same center. Students and their families can come in and network with these support programs designed to help all students succeed.
Youth Connection Services Center
The Youth Connection Services Center serves students and parents of Fern Creek Traditional High School and Carrithers Middle School. The center provides program and referrals in the following areas:
- Academic enhancement
- Employment counseling, training, placement
- Family-crisis & mental-health counseling
- Health services - clothing assistance
- Violence reduction activities
- Service learning opportunities
- Governmental/social service agency referrals
- Parent workshops
Louisville Education and Employment Partnership (LEEP)
LEEP's mission is to improve academic performance, to enhance the student's opportunities for employment and/or post-secondary education, and to reduce the student drop out rate. The program includes:
- Learning employment skills
- Assist in applying to colleges & universities
- Educational field trips
- Individual counseling & support
- Mentor program
Transition Programs: COVE & PASS
Transition planning includes community-based instruction (CBI) activities. This program provides positive and effective transition planning for students with disabilities. This program includes:
- Interagency collaboration
- Functional curriculum as needed
- Student and parent involvement in transition planning
- Connections with community resources to ensure transition to post-secondary adult life
Title V Programs
The Title V Program is designed to meet the educational needs of students with low attendance, at risk of failure or dropping out of school, and students with untapped potential. Students will be provided services in the following areas:
- Goal setting for behavioral & academic achievement
- Assistance with attendance & social concerns
- Academic & behavioral incentives
- Conflict resolution/decision making
- Parental contact & parent workshops
